Crafting with Bella Blvd.

Continuing on with my exercise to play and experiment without worry of assignments or deadlines, I pulled out more thin metal dies and one of my favorite Bella Blvd. collections, Birthday Girl, to create this card.

My goal, besides having fun, is to try new dies and to mix and match a combination of elements I might not have thought of before. I used a pennant, notebook paper and circles frame die all from My Favorite Things. So, what do you think? Do you like? Is it too busy for your taste? Do you have a favorite part?

All the new Bella Blvd. collections just released at CHA arrive at my doorstep tomorrow, if the UPS man doesn't get a flat on the way! ;) It's been really hard to see all the fun new products floating around the web and not having them in hand to play with! Tomorrow that all changes and I look forward to making a lot of fun new projects for you! :)

Thanks for visiting! Have a super day!

Playing with Doodlebug

I feel my work is in of bit of a rut lately, that I'm using the same techniques over and over again so I thought it would be a good exercise to just to play and experiment without worry of assignments or deadlines.

As a result of my paper play session, I created this card with a set of heart dies and Doodlebug's Fruit Stand collection. I also pulled out some old Doodlebug sequins...remember them, lots of fun shapes and colors? It's funny how trends come and go and how much we're seeing sequins back in the spotlight.

So what do you think of my card? Like? Don't like? What's your favorite part? I always enjoy thinking of a new way to use something so I really like the glassine bag with a partial heart cut.

I enjoyed this exercise so much that I'm going to make time to do more today. Thanks for stopping by. Have a terrific Tuesday!

Happy B-Day!

Hello! Today I have a birthday card to share with you that I created a few weeks back with the Love You More collection from Pebbles.

The bright colors of this line and childhood icons make it perfect for cards and scrapbook pages of our little ones. This card reminds me of the quilt on Christopher's bed. It has airplanes flying all over it just like this!

So how was your weekend? Did you travel somewhere? Stay at home? Work? We go out to dinner every other weekend and this weekend was Christopher's turn to choose the restaurant, California Pizza Kitchen. I was surprised since his preference is fish, seafood and sushi! He said he was in the mood for pizza...pepperoni to be exact! :)

Our weekend also included a trip to the flea market. The hubs and I went and arrived back home with a big juicy watermelon and a stove-top popcorn maker that has a crank in the handle. It was brand new and just $10! A while ago we gave up microwave popcorn because of the excess packaging. Instead we microwaved our corn in a brown paper bag that can be used multiple times. That worked pretty well except a lot of the kernels didn't pop. I don't know if it's our microwave or what happens when you pop corn with no oil? We tried our new popper last night and I was happy to see only two kernels at the bottom of the pan! And oh how delicious! Organic corn popped in a touch of olive oil, topped with a little butter and seasoned salt. Yum! It's the little things that make me happy! :)

Well, I hope you like the card and have a great week!

CardMaker - Autumn 2013

Can you believe the 2013 autumn issue of CardMaker hit the news stands? This issue is packed with so many spook-tacular Halloween cards and goodies...one of my favorites being Carolyn King's 'We're a Little Batty' card featured on the cover! Isn't it adorable?!?!

On page 74-75 you will find this card and mini goody pail I created with Authentique's Enchanted collection. I sent this project to CardMaker almost a year ago so it's always a big surprise when it finally arrives back on my doorstep with the issue it's published in! I wish all mail were this much fun! ;)

Well, fall is just around the corner! It's one of my favorite times to create cards, goodies and home decor projects!

Christmas in July

Today I have a Christmas in July card share for you! If you enjoy creating handmade cards it's not too early to whip out your favorite holiday paper collections, turn on some festive tunes and get craftin'! :)

Yes, it does feel kind of weird to think snow and decked halls in the middle of summer, but once I've listened to a few Christmas carols and perused my holiday Pinterest folders, my festive juices begin to flow!

I created this snowy card with Doodlebug's North Pole collection. I love the dimension you can achieve using the Mini Doodle Pop stickers! I also use foam mounting tape on regular stickers to make them stand out. The Polaroid frame was created with my set of square Nestabilitites from Spellbinders. I love to make little scenes framed in Polaroids!

Train Travel

My son, Christopher, has train on the brain! He loves all things train related from Lego to computer simulated trains. It all started on his second birthday when he received a Thomas the Tank Engine set from his dad and I. For the past few birthdays, Christopher opted to go on a train trip for his birthday outing and I recently created this scrapbook page to remember this year's trip.

Where am I in this page? I'm the shoes! ;) Those my friends, are one of my favorite pair of shoes...Rocket Dogs! I think they photograph better than I do! :)

To create the nifty train and tracks, I used a couple Silhouette die cut files. The awesome arrow papers and accents are part of Bella Blvd's Sand and Surf collection. I also mixed in some thin metal arrow die cuts. And there you have it. Memories to cherish for years to come.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a terrific Tuesday!

Bright colors, whimsical prints and accent stickers make it a breeze to whip up adorable cards like this mermaid design. She puts a smile on my face! My niece, who was visiting a week ago, thought this would make a cool birthday party invitation. I agree! How about you?

Hope you have a good start to your week!
